Conferences are Hard Work

We knew Saturday would be a long day.

We started at 7:30 — the Poster Session.  So many interesting projects to take in, and it was great for Barrett to get the lay of the land, as she is presenting her poster during tomorrow’s session.  Fabiola ducked out a bit early in order to prepare for her panel, which was packed with students and faculty — a terrific showing.  For the second session, we all decided on the same panel — A Renaissance of Identity — and loved especially the papers about “The Disney Feminist” and “Sondheim’s Women” because they reminded us so much about our own Honors seminar with Dr. Bass, “American Princess:  Once Upon a Time.”

At the Presidential Luncheon, NRHC President Helen-Margaret Nasser gave an inspiring speech about….failing!  She said that some of her greatest failures led to some of her greatest discoveries, and that the only time you really fail is when you quit.

This afternoon, off to more panels and roundtables, and maybe a peek outside to see the sun that has finally decided to come out.  After the Student Caucus at 4:30, we will finally have some down time before getting ready for tonight’s Student Gala in the ballroom.  The theme is “nautical” — never hard for a CNR student to find some blue and white!
